About

Hello, there. My name is Rob Black, and I’m a newly 23-year-old Los Angeles implant. In May of 2013, I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, concentrating in public relations, with a minor in business.

For the summer of 2012, I was given the opportunity to intern in Los Angeles. I worked in the publicity department of Fox Broadcasting Company on the Fox lot in Century City, which was a dream come true. Going into it, I assumed it would just be my one summer in L.A., but I can’t say enough how much that summer changed my life. I quickly made many great friends, whom I couldn’t wait to get back to.
<--There were experiences at FOX which I will never forget. I'll always remember the FOX All Star Party for Summer TCA 2012 on the rooftop terrace garden of Soho House West Hollywood. It was honestly one of the most coolest nights of my life.-->

Growing up, I always thought I would live in New York City. As someone who was raised on a 250 acre farm in rural Virginia, I knew the city life was for me since I was a young child. When I finally had a good enough reason to convince my family that I had to visit NYC (thank you, Glee Live! 2010 at Radio City Music Hall) I fell in love. From Broadway to the subway, I loved everything about it. Also, it wasn’t too far away from home–an easy six hour, overnight bus ride. Despite the fact that I ran off to NYC whenever I could get the chance to in college, my summer in California changed my mind about moving to the Big Apple.

Throughout my two and a half months in L.A., I slowly realized I would be back soon. Aside from preferring warm weather to bitter winters, there were many reasons why my plans to live in NYC were shifting west. Professionally, I loved that it was close to a majority of the production-side of the entertainment business. Personally, I couldn’t get over the feeling that everyone I met in L.A. (especially young people) had this overwhelming excitement about life. We were always going on adventures, which is something that doesn’t happen nearly enough in Richmond. Whether it was waking up at sunrise to hike to the Hollywood sign or simply spending a Sunday afternoon at a farmer’s market, my friends and I really enjoyed soaking up everything the city had to offer. Everyone I met had high aspirations for their futures, which is definitely the type of people you want to surround yourself with. Now that I’ve returned to L.A. after finishing up my last year of school, it’s been great slipping back into that support group of friends. While I’m still working toward establishing my life out here, I’m optimistic about the future and enjoying every second of the present.

I hope reading through this has helped you get to know me, my passions and my aspirations a little bit better. Feel free to connect with me through email or social media, and I hope to hear from you soon!
